I just don't know which file is missing on the host or how to repair it.Microsoft Remote Desktop allows users of all knowledge levels to establish a direct connection with their distant PC and take control over their desktop, apps, files, attached hardware, and network resources, just like as if they are actually sitting at the desk near that computer. Nothing has changed on my PC- I've not installed any new software or changed any security settings, apart from letting the normal MS updates trickle through. Is there any way to do this? Or any way to work out which file RDP can't find? I couldn't find anywhere online saying which files RDC needs and whether I can just copy those back over from the DVD. Looked in installed programs on control panel, and Windows options to try and see if I can uninstall and re-install but it's not there. I've tried googling the error message and remote desktop connection issues, but the results are all swamped with connection problems. I didn't want to restore to an earlier point. I've run the repair utility on the DVD but it didn't find any problems. Which stops it from letting me properly connect and control the desktop. The Vista Business logo on a blue background and the text "The system cannot find the file specified." The RDC connection is still 'working' and the window has the gray bar at the top to let me close the RDC, but some files must have been damaged on the host It's killing me - I normally use it all the time to work from home!
